This Information is (Free) Online

There should be only one computer book on the bookshelves at your local bookstore and that book should be “How to Get a Computer, Get Online, and Find Information”.

The Border’s Educators Sale is coming up and I’ve been asked every year to make a list in preparation. I poked my head into the nearest Borders today and perused the Computer bookshelves taking time to flip through several that in specific areas that I’m interested in. For every book I saw I ticked off a place in my mind where I’d seen the same information in a searchable format online.

If I write and publish a computer book it may be entitled “The Information and Narrative Contained in This Book is Available Online” subtitled “And it’s Probably Free”.

Which is the long way of expressing my disappointment at not having found a particular piece of information at the bookstore that I can’t seem to find online.
